Extended Care Residential
Addiction Treatment - Long Term Drug Rehab
Continued treatment in Recovery Resources' Extended Residential Drug
Treatment center is determined and recommended for some clients beyond
the initial 30 days of Intensive Residential Drug Addiction Treatment
and is based upon the continuous evaluation and assessment process
conducted during the first tier of treatment by the client's primary
therapist and clinical team. This second tier of the recovery process
allows clients to continue to focus on processes that will strengthen
and solidify their recovery before returning to their homes. It usually
involves an additional 30 days to 6-month stay. Lengths of stay are
based on individual needs; recommendations for these extended stays are
made by the clinical team most closely related to each client and with
total client input and involvement. There are Recovery Resource clients
who choose to stay in our Extended Residential Alcohol and Drug
Treatment program for 6 months to a year in order to increase their
chances of success in post-treatment recovery.
At this level of drug addiction treatment, clients are no longer on
full restriction, but continue to live in one of our residential
extended care addiction treatment centers where they must meet curfew
requirements. In addition, many clients seek part-time jobs or return
to interrupted schooling while still receiving half-daily treatment. It
is a time when clients begin to build a sober support system outside of
the treatment facility by attending daily AA or NA meetings, acquiring
a Sponsor, and joining a Home Group.
The third tier of treatment in the Extended Residential Alcohol and
Drug Addiction Treatment program occurs when the clinical team
determines that fewer restrictions are required. Although still
residing in one of our residences, addiction treatment scheduling will
be made flexible and will adapt to job or school requirements,
permitting the clients to attend day or evening groups as individual
scheduling permits. Continued active involvement in 12-Step recovery is
required in this phase.
